  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by dissolving it with sugar in warm water; let it foam for about 5–10 minutes.
  2. Combine salt, canola oil, and two cups of flour into the yeast mixture and mix well. Gradually add more flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5–7 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a greased bowl for one hour until doubled in size.
  4. Divide the risen dough into 16 pieces, roll each into a rope, shape them into bones with slits and spirals.
  5. Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise again for about 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 425℉ (220℃) and bake breadsticks for 12–14 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle garlic salt and parmesan cheese while warm.
