  • 1 lb beef flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 24 fresh red chillies, sliced (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Slice beef flank steak into strips about half an inch wide and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Toss beef strips in cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Fry coated beef strips in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sliced chillies, and minced garlic.
  6. Add crispy beef back to the skillet (drain excess oil if needed) and pour sauce mixture over it. Toss for another minute until well coated.
