  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 4 tsp. garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 28 ounce can fire roasted crushed tomatoes
  • 15 ounce can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 15 ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 15 ounce can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • sour cream
  • jalapenos, sliced
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sauté diced onions and minced garlic for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  2. Add ground turkey to the pot, breaking it apart as it cooks for 5–7 minutes until no longer pink.
  3. Stir in brown sugar, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, and tomato paste until well combined.
  4. Pour in beef broth and crushed tomatoes; add rinsed beans. Mix thoroughly and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
